The new album A Wave That Will Never Break marks the start of a new chapter for the Manchester-based band.
More than a mere record, A Wave That Will Never Break represents the rebirth of one of Britain's indie bands from the 2010s—a return nurtured away from the glare of the spotlight, restoring to WU LYF the expressive force that had made them a cult project, but with a new, more self-aware and deeply human perspective.
The WU LYF have always been something to be lived rather than explained: a visceral, instinctive experience, difficult to put into words.
After twelve years, when it seemed that fire had faded, life had led the band members down different paths in an attempt to distance themselves from the intense shadow of their youth.
Then, almost without realizing it, they found themselves playing together in a hidden attic above a friend's bookshelf, surrounded by new instruments and old emotions.
They began again cautiously, but with open hearts, seeking new forms, free from the weight of the past.
Old friends, new scars, with the delicacy of those who do not wish to reopen yesterday's wounds.
To their surprise, they realized that music, intense and untamed, continued to flow inside them.
