A singer with a singular presence, cultivating both modernity and classicism, Florent Marchet is occasionally also seen as a film composer, or as a novelist. The garden party to which he had invited us two years ago at L'Aqueduc remains a strong memory for those who attended, and there is no doubt we will accept his invitation to spend a moment in his mobile home, named after his latest album. There you find what defines his mark: bittersweet chronicles of the everyday, precise narratives that unfold like stories. Florent Marchet continues his musical explorations and arrangements, and the rhythmic momentum here brings a gentle light. It seems to imply, subtly, that even as the cracks in the contemporary world deepen, humor, poetry, the taste for others and for travel allow one to traverse it without completely stumbling. Mélissende has always been a musician, but it is only two or three years ago that people started really talking about her, and, to tell the truth, what led us to pay closer attention to her work was a tip from Albin de La Simone toward whom she wisely turned to make her latest album. Her songs touch the heart, carried by a deeply inhabited voice and lyrics where melancholy and a comforting gentleness surface. Spare songs, a touch of tender whimsy, and a lot of humanity.
