Chali 2na arrives at Patronaat in Haarlem on 8 November 2026 with his band. A prominent figure in Californian hip-hop, he first came to prominence in the early 1990s on the open mics of the Good Life Café, before leaving a lasting mark on Jurassic 5 thanks to his bass-baritone voice and a sharp, high-energy, precise flow. His rap rests on a solid old-school culture, with a groove sensibility borrowed from funk, soul, and the breaks that make the lyrics bounce.
In parallel, he also participated in the early days of Ozomatli, which was more open to Latin rhythms and reggae, then built a solo trajectory between Fish Market, Fish Outta Water and a string of EPs such as Against the Current. Chali 2na easily navigates between hip-hop, dub, funk and electro, through collaborations with artists as varied as they are, and continues this openness with recent projects such as Adventures of a Reluctant Superhero. On stage with a band, his signature becomes even more pronounced: a deep voice, a strong sense of rhythm, and a collective energy.
