On October 16, 2026, at La Merise in Trappes, Orchestra Baobab returns to the stage with the blend that has made its legend since Dakar, where the group formed in the early 1970s. Born in the feverish club scene, they have long made West Africa dance by linking Afro-Cuban fever to Senegalese traditions: interlacing guitars, supple brass, polyphonies in Wolof, Bambara or Creole. Over the decades, their sound has kept this urban aura, straddling rumba, Latin rhythms and the elegance inherited from the great dance orchestras, without losing the link with Manding, Wolof and Sérère influences. A concert conceived as a journey through Dakar's musical history, carried by a group that continues to keep a repertoire alive that has become a classic.
As a warm-up, Ashs The Best embodies a new Senegalese scene at the crossroads of folk and rap, with a soft yet direct voice, laid over delicate arrangements. DJ Tom B. will complete the evening.
