Clwb Ifor Bach hosts As It Is in Cardiff on September 20, 2026. Led by vocalist Patty Walters, this Brighton-born project first made a name for itself with a very melodic pop-punk/emo sound, balancing direct choruses and lyrics that circle around doubts, relationships, and all that sticks to you as you grow up.
Since Never Happy, Ever After and okay., the band has broadened its palette without losing its hook: tense guitars, the energy of the 2000s, and more nuanced writing. With The Great Depression, As It Is has also embraced a darker side, addressing mental health and letting in touches of post-hardcore and alternative rock. Lineup changes have not slowed the machine: around Walters, the sound remains carried by a voice that sits front and center, capable of moving from clean singing to higher, tenser crescendos, as on I Went To Hell And Back. A show for those who love it when it sings loudly and hits hard.
