Guus Meeuwis will perform at Martiniplaza in Groningen on October 24, 2026. Since the mid-1990s, he has been carving out a distinct niche in Dutch-language pop: songs with clear melodies, an acoustic slant, and a tempo that gives the words room. His lyrics stay close to everyday life, without grand poses, with refrains that you can't help but sing along to.
Meeuwis broke through in 1995 with Het is een nacht… (Levensecht), back then with Vagant, and thereafter steadily released new music under his own name. In that long-running arc are albums such as Hemel nr. 7, Armen open, Hollandse meesters, Geluk, Deel Zoveel, and the recent Uit het hoofd (2023). Live, that blend of pop songs and singalong moments comes into its own best: warm, direct, and made for singing together, whether you are up front or in the back swaying.
