Kaleo brings its ‘Way Down We Go Tour’ to Zurich, on March 23, 2027, at Hall 622. The Icelandic band, founded in 2012 near Reykjavik, moves casually between blues rock, folk and alternative and enjoys playing with contrasts: heavy, electric riffs, then again reduced acoustic moments, all carried by the distinctive voice of frontman and guitarist Jökull “JJ Julius Son” Júlíusson.
Since the early debut released in Iceland, Kaleo has opened its sound toward American roots music without losing the rough rock core. By the time of ‘A/B’ (2016) the blend became internationally visible: powerful blues-rock tracks alongside calm, almost soulful ballads. ‘Surface Sounds’ (2021) continues this line, with a bit more atmosphere and a pop edge, but still earthy and direct. In live performance, this means songs that slowly build, suddenly grab you and then leave room again – exactly the kind of set that sticks in your head without pushing itself on you.
