Ibeyi is the duo of twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz, born in Paris and nourished by a back-and-forth between Afro-Cuban heritage and contemporary pop writing. Their music moves on a thread between soul, R&B, downtempo and electro, with Yoruba rhythms at the heart of the sound. On stage, Lisa-Kaindé's piano and voice rest atop Naomi's percussion (cajón, batá drums), in a play of tensions and silences that leaves room for grooves as well as melodies. On February 5, 2027, at The Mod Club in Toronto, Ibeyi will present this singular blend of languages and textures, moving from English to French, from Spanish to Yoruba, without strain. Signed to XL Recordings, they have built their discography between pared-down clarity and a broadening of the frame, from their debut album Ibeyi to Ash, up to Spell 31, more direct, interwoven with collaborations. A concert conceived as a living set, where tradition dialogues with electronics, and where the voice leads the dance.
