Info
Wasia Project plays O2 Institute Birmingham on 8 November 2026. Formed by siblings Olivia Hardy (voice, guitar) and William Gao (piano, voice), the London duo writes intimate, carefully arranged pop that blends indie, light jazz touches, subtle electronics and a classical grounding. They first surfaced with Why Don’t U Love Me in 2019, then set the tone with the EP How Can I Pretend? in 2022. In 2023 came Petals on the Moon, My Lover Is Sleeping and Remember When, with Ur So Pretty reaching a wider audience via the Heartstopper soundtrack. Their second EP, Isotope (2024), pushes further into supple grooves, piano-led melodies and close harmonies.
On stage, Wasia Project expands beyond the core duo with drums, bass and brass, giving their songs more depth without losing the quiet focus of the recordings. Expect fluid rhythms, warm horn lines and vocals that move from hushed to open, shifting naturally between alternative pop and a light jazz feel. The set draws on their catalogue from early singles to Isotope, highlighting detailed arrangements, measured dynamics and melodies that settle in slowly and stay. A clear snapshot of a duo refining its sound in real time, in Birmingham at O2 Institute.
