Info
Wasia Project, the sibling duo of vocalist-guitarist Olivia Hardy and pianist-vocalist William Gao, brings its chamber-pop palette to New Century in Manchester on 6 November 2026. Since 2019, they’ve been shaping songs where indie pop, light jazz inflections and a touch of classical training sit alongside discreet electronics. On stage, the duo widens into a small ensemble with drums, bass and brass, giving the arrangements an organic, breathing feel without losing the intimacy of their writing.
The set leans into the arc they’ve traced from early single Why Don’t U Love Me and the EP How Can I Pretend? through to 2023 tracks Petals on the Moon, My Lover Is Sleeping and Remember When. Ur So Pretty, heard on the second season of Heartstopper, often slips into their live shows, while the 2024 EP Isotope pushes their piano-and-voice core into warmer colours and roomier grooves. Live, horns shade the melodies, Gao’s keys thread countermelodies, and Hardy’s voice carries close harmonies that rise and fall with unhurried dynamics. Between careful arrangements and a supple rhythm section, Wasia Project builds a concert that lets detail do the work, drawing you into songs that move between alternative pop and a light jazz feel.
