Tarja Turunen « Frisson »

Tarja Turunen brings Frisson Live 2027 to Tullisali in Oulu, Finland on 22 February 2027. Classically trained at the Sibelius Academy and the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, the Finnish soprano first made her mark as the voice of Nightwish from 1996 to 2005, shaping a meeting point between metal riffs, orchestral arrangements and an operatic timbre on albums like Angels Fall First, Oceanborn, Wishmaster, Century Child and Once.

Since then, Tarja has built a solo path that moves between symphonic metal, cinematic pop and sacred music, with releases including Henkäys ikuisuudesta, My Winter Storm, What Lies Beneath, Colours in the Dark, Ave Maria – En Plein Air, The Shadow Self, In the Raw and Dark Christmas. On stage, she switches from amplified tension to a more intimate, lyrical register, keeping a close link with her classical roots while leaning into heavier textures. Frisson Live 2027 taps into that range, echoing the atmospheric touch explored with Outlanders and a series of collaborations with artists such as Scorpions, Within Temptation and Marko Hietala. The focus stays on the voice, its dynamics and the way it anchors a live band.
