Info
Sylvan Esso, the Durham, North Carolina duo of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, brings its distinct mix of electropop, indie pop, dream pop and folktronica to History in Toronto on October 19, 2026. Formed in 2013 after Meath’s work with Mountain Man (and tours with Feist) and Sanborn’s paths with Megafaun and his solo project Made of Oak, the pair has shaped a sound where nimble vocals meet off‑kilter rhythms, airy textures and flexible pop structures.
First noticed with the single Hey Mami, Sylvan Esso has built a catalogue across four albums — Sylvan Esso (2014), What Now (Grammy-nominated, 2017), Free Love (2020) and No Rules Sandy (2022) — plus detours like the Echo Mountain Sessions EP and the live project WITH. On stage, the setup stays lean and focused: voice up front, synths and bass carving space, beats pushing and pulling without excess. The show traces their discography rather than chasing spectacle, letting songs move between close, hushed passages and a steady rhythmic drive, the thread being Meath’s clear phrasing and Sanborn’s detailed production sense.
