Danakil

On November 28, 2026, Danakil will stop at L’Espace Étincelle in Bergerac. Formed in the late 1990s in Marly-le-Roi, the collective shaped a French-language reggae rooted in roots, carried by a distinctive brass section and clear songwriting focused on social justice, solidarity, ecology and freedom. Across albums such as Microclimat, Dialogue de sourds, Echos du temps and La Rue raisonne, the band has refined a warm sound—laid-back riddims, round bass lines and memorable choruses.

On stage, Danakil performs as a tight-knit unit, with arrangements crafted for live shows: brass up front, measured backing vocals, dub-inflected breaths and versions that take their time. The set draws from their entire repertoire, blending signature tracks with more recent songs while keeping the lyrical thread intact. The vocals move between melody and flow, the musicians establish a patient groove that leaves room for nuance, and the messages find their place without weighing down the momentum.
