Down brings the Strap It Down Tour ’26 to MTELUS, Montreal, on August 25, 2026, teaming up with Helmet for a bill that aligns New Orleans weight with New York angular grit.

Formed in 1991, Down unites Phil Anselmo, Jimmy Bower, Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein, musicians known from Pantera, Eyehategod, Corrosion of Conformity and Crowbar. Their heavy metal puIIs from sludge, southern and stoner currents: thick riffs, a rolling groove, tempos that lean slow to mid, and a clear imprint of 1970s hard rock. The catalogue spans NOLA (1995), Down II (2002) and Down III (2007), then the EPs Down IV – Part I (2012) and Part II (2014). The group has alternated active stretches and pauses, with a few line-up moves over time, but the collective approach stays intact on stage.

Helmet, founded in New York in 1989 around guitarist-singer Page Hamilton, carves a sound at the crossroads of alt metal, post-hardcore and noise rock: dry, syncopated riffs, broken-beat turns and an abrasive guitar grain. After Strap It On (1990), the band sharpened its identity on Meantime (1992), Betty (1994) and Aftertaste (1997), before returning in the 2000s with Size Matters, Monochrome, Seeing Eye Dog, Dead to the World and Left (2023). Hamilton leads a tight quartet format that favors tension, precision and forward motion.
