Way Dynamic

Melbourne musician Dylan Young brings his solo project Way Dynamic to Chalk in Brighton on 21 August 2026. Orbiting his third album Massive Shoe, he lines up a set where minimalist folk-pop meets art-rock angles and a light baroque pop glow. Mostly self-produced and largely played by Young, these songs hold both sentiment and a sly sense of fun: one moment a breezy detour through darkness, the next a plainspoken note on crossed wires. Known for stints with Cool Sounds and Good Morning, and for time on drums with Snowy Band and Kankawa Nagarra, he channels that scene’s tight-knit spirit into close-mic vocals, unrushed tempos and arrangements that stay lean but leave room for luminous details.

On stage, Way Dynamic stretches the intimacy without losing the grain of the recordings, letting guitars and keys shade the edges while the rhythm section nudges each chorus forward. Expect new material alongside cuts that have already turned heads among peers like Katie Crutchfield and MJ Lenderman, with tracks such as Ibiza lingering quietly after they fade.
