Cirque du Soleil - OVO

Cirque du Soleil sets up its big top at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu on 22 January 2027 with OVO, a plunge into the microcosm of insects. The show unfolds as a wordless fable in which an egg, a symbol of life, stirs the curiosity of a colony on the move. Between encounters, rivalries and courtships, each act depicts the mechanics of a tiny but teeming world, driven by an organic, percussive score.

True to the Quebec troupe’s signature, OVO mixes acrobatics, visual theatre and highly crafted scenography. Bodies answer one another in clusters, launch into rebounds like grasshoppers on trampolines, sail through the air on straps, and entwine into contortionist webs. Costumes and makeup play on metamorphosis, with textures and colors that evoke carapaces, antennae and wings. The soundtrack borrows from orchestral pop and world music influences, with vocal lines in real or imagined languages that accompany each tableau like a sonic ecosystem. Born in the street and now a landmark of animal-free contemporary circus, Cirque du Soleil here presents a fresco that observes life at insect scale, between acrobatic precision and visual storytelling.
