Loreena McKennitt: « The Mask and Mirror 30th Anniversary Tour »

Loreena McKennitt brings her The Mask and Mirror 30th Anniversary Tour to the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp on 28 March 2027. The Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has explored since the 1980s her own blend of Celtic folk, Mediterranean colours and influences from the Middle East. Founded on her own label Quinlan Road, her work grew from intimate ballads and instrumental pieces into rich, travel- and literature-fuelled compositions. With The Mask and Mirror (1994) she broadened her sonic palette toward Spanish medieval traditions and the Maghreb, with harp, bouzouki, percussion and strings forming an acoustic fabric around her voice.

This anniversary tour centres on that album and emphasises the contrasts McKennitt favours: old melodies alongside new arrangements, contemplative passages alongside pulse and rhythm. Live she opts for an acoustic ensemble in which voice and strings carry the narrative, allowing room for dynamics and nuance. Without chasing effects, but with careful attention to sound and lyrics, the set unfolds with alternating ballads and instrumental interludes, and with the bridges between Celtic traditions and Mediterranean inspiration made audible.
