Info
On 28 November 2027, The Fisherman’s Friends bring the sound of Port Isaac to Plymouth Arena in Plymouth. Formed in 1995 by Cornish singers rooted in fishing, lifeboats and harbour life, the group keeps sea shanties and traditional nautical songs at the centre. Their shows lean on close harmonies sung largely a cappella, with occasional, understated folk accompaniment. The set moves between work songs and maritime ballads, with stories and dry coastal humour, drawing from across their catalogue: early self-released recordings, Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends and One and All, through Proper Job and Sole Mates, plus music linked to the Fisherman’s Friends films.
On stage, the focus stays on the collective voice: verses passed between soloists and the chorus, call-and-response, and refrains that pull the room into the song. Decades of singing together give the material an unforced swing and steady pulse, carrying the cadences of the sea without frills. From shanties to folk-lined harmonies, this is a straight line from dockside tradition to the Plymouth crowd, for one night only at Plymouth Arena.
