Arkells headline The KEE to Bala in Bala on June 5, 2026. Formed in the mid-2000s in Hamilton, the Canadian quintet has shaped a melody-forward indie rock that folds in alternative, pop and a touch of soul, carried by Max Kerman’s lead and a tight collective dynamic. After breaking through with Jackson Square (2008), they opened up their sound with more keys on Michigan Left (2011) and High Noon (2014), then leaned into brass and pop textures on Morning Report (2016) and Rally Cry (2018). The acoustic Campfire Chords (2020) reframed their catalog, before the two-part Blink Once/Twice (2021–2022) broadened their palette via collaborations with Tegan and Sara, Lights, Cold War Kids and Cœur de pirate. Laundry Pile (2023) returned to intimate, song-first writing.

On stage, Arkells pivot between big choruses, choral backing, punchy guitars and grooves that slip from rock drive to soulful swing. At The KEE to Bala, expect a set that threads newer cuts with long-standing favorites, moving from crisp singalongs to quieter corners, anchored by the band’s collective energy and a knack for memorable refrains.
