Shiftless Shuffle

On Sunday 14 June 2026 at 229 London, JazzCotech Crew and DJ Perry Louis mark 25 years of Shiftless Shuffle with a session built for dancers. Born from Messin’ Around, the Saturday Jazz Funk and Boogie nights at the Jazz Café with Adrian Gibson and the JazzCotech dancers, the format grew from weekly twenty-minute showcases into a full session launched in June 2001. Named after Herbie Hancock’s Shiftless Shuffle, the night keeps UK dancefloor jazz moving: deep cuts, live energy and JazzCotech’s footwork sparking with the decks.

Special guest: Nicola Conte (DJ set). Producer, guitarist, bandleader and DJ, Conte arrives with a vinyl-only selection shaped by serious digging: 70s soul, rare funk, Afro-spiritual jazz, Brazilian grooves, Italian jazz and shades of nu-disco, all aimed squarely at the floor.

Drawing on releases with MPS Records, collaborations with Gianluca Petrella and projects such as Umoja, his sets connect eras and scenes, weaving modal jazz, Latin pulse and disco bounce into a fluid narrative. A meeting point between crate culture and dancer-led jazz, in tune with the Shuffle spirit.
