Jalen Ngonda: Album Launch Show (later show)

On 25 May 2026 at Resident Music, 28 Kensington Gardens, Brighton and Hove, Jalen Ngonda brings his timeless-leaning soul to an intimate in-store. Born in Silver Spring, Maryland and now based in the UK, he sharpened his craft on small stages before joining the Daptone Records family. His songs draw on the foundations of 60s soul—firm basslines, steady grooves, voice up front—while keeping a concise, modern melodic frame. After a run of singles, his 2023 album Come Around and Love Me set the tone for a sound built on clarity and feel rather than excess.

This solo performance marks the launch of his new album, Doctrine Of Love. In a stripped-back setup, the essentials do the work: rhythm, melody, and that unmistakable vocal grain. The set opens a window onto the new record while reconnecting with earlier tracks, tracing a line between classic R&B textures and present-day songwriting. It’s a close-range encounter with an artist who keeps the instrumentation simple and the songs tight, letting the voice carry the emotion. A later additional show has been added to meet demand.
