Info
Carving psych grooves through the grey sprawl of London, common goldfish is the underground project of Tottenham’s Jonty Lovell—producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a taste for breakbeats, warped synths and golden-era fuzz. Blending the swagger of Britpop, the groove of funk and the pulse of '90s electronica, common goldfish sounds like a half-remembered night out—hazy, nostalgic and full of feeling.
What started as spontaneous sets in local skateparks and canals has since grown into a four-piece live band, bringing energy to venues like Camden Assembly and Peckham Audio, and playing BBC Introducing showcases and The Great Escape’s First Fifty.
The debut album, Walk in the Park, is a raw, sun-drenched soundtrack for figuring life out when nothing makes sense. Born from late-night bus stop conversations and worn-out speakers, it embraces the ridiculousness of modern life while finding a kind of beauty in the mess. It is both lost and luminous, a reminder that even in the chaos, there is joy to be found.
Recognized by BBC Introducing, common goldfish move outside algorithmic trends—following their own path.
