The Ex focuses on potential challenges and what is yet to come. The band continues to reinvent itself, finding new alliances and challenges along the way.

The band's story follows an unpredictably winding road, documented in a chronological series of reissues. What started with raucous punk, rooted in the squatting and punk movements of the late 70s, turned into a wide range of styles with national and international impact.

The Ex played more than 2000 concerts in 45 countries. In the 80s, they were one of the first Western bands to explore Central and Eastern Europe, from Hungary to the former Czechoslovakia, Poland and Russia. After that, Canada and the United States followed. At the start of the new millennium, the band traveled to Ethiopia for the first time, backed by a VPRO TV crew. Several tours on several continents and collaborations with Ethiopian artists, including Getatchew Mekuria and dancer and cultural ambassador Melaku Belay, led to many releases and work across scenes where music from different regions meets.

The pandemic was a standstill for many, including The Ex. The band is back on national and international stages with new music, ready to return to the studio. They have played more than three dozen concerts at Paradiso in Amsterdam, including an Ex Festival during its 50th birthday celebrations, and in November the band plays Wels Unlimited in Austria.

Recently, Andy Moor and Terrie Ex contributed to a contemporary live soundtrack to Limite during the Holland Festival.

They celebrated their 45th birthday with a festival. In early 2025, there is a new album called If Your Mirror Breaks, and a tour across Europe titled "Forward In All Directions".
