Info
JeanJass places his rap where his life is written, between Belgium and Morocco. On March 5, 2027, he arrives at La Cabane – Les Halles de la Cartoucherie in Toulouse with Les Champs de Sacs Plastique, a project conceived as an assembly of fragments: memories, family, legacy, rootedness. As a rapper-producer, he moves forward with controlled writing and a clear framework, that of a man who knows why he raps, his head in the studio and his heart at home. Each track locks into that simple, precise rhythm.
At the center, “Le pays de mon père” (The Land of My Father) opens a drawer long kept shut. The narrative takes the shape of a summer back home, told from a child’s point of view: men holding hands, portraits of the king, the smell of bread, sfenj doughnuts, matches with the uncles. The title comes from a stubborn image seen as he stepped off the ferry: fields of mikat — “sacs plastiques” in Darija — white-and-blue sheets as far as the eye could see. From there, the album unfolds its panoramas, balancing homage to memory with a clear-eyed look at the present.
A cinephile, JeanJass slips in nods to C’est arrivé près de chez vous and La Dernière Séance without losing the thread of a personal, measured rap that combines technique and sincerity. On stage, he assembles these pieces like an interior film, without embellishment, letting the voice, the images and the production speak.
