Swedish musician Åsa Söderqvist brings ShitKid to The Deaf Institute, Manchester, on 14 September 2026. Rooted in lo-fi rock that splices garage grit with off-kilter pop and a punk streak, the project took shape in 2016 with the self-titled EP and the sharp-edged single Oh Please Be A Cocky Cool Kid. Fish (2017) set a minimal, grungy backbone; This Is It (2018) and Detention (2019) pushed harder into punk and bedroom rock. In 2020, Duo Limbo / Mellan himmel å helvete with Melvins opened a collaborative chapter, followed by 20/20 ShitKid, where Söderqvist flips between instant hooks and scratchy experiments without losing the raw core of the songs. On stage, it stays lean and direct: short forms, drum-machine or bare-bones beats, fuzzed guitars, and a voice that slides between spoken and sung lines. The set swings from jagged bursts to crooked earworms, with room for detours and noise. Special guests join the bill.
