Poets of the Fall

Poets of the Fall bring their melodic alternative rock to The Palais, Nottingham on 26 September 2026. Formed in Helsinki in the early 2000s, the trio of singer Marko Saaresto, guitarist Olli Tukiainen and keyboardist‑producer Markus “Captain” Kaarlonen croises post‑grunge energy with pop sense and cinematic textures. They first surfaced in 2003 with Late Goodbye, written for the video game Max Payne 2, kicking off a long-running exchange with Remedy Entertainment that later appeared in Alan Wake and Control. That back‑and‑forth with game music feeds into their studio work, shaping a sound built on wide guitars, atmospheric keys and a voice that carries the melodies upfront.

On stage, the band navigates between guitar‑driven anthems and slower, mood‑led pieces, letting dynamic shifts do the storytelling. Their set digs into a catalogue that spans Signs of Life, Carnival of Rust, Revolution Roulette, Twilight Theater, Temple of Thought, Jealous Gods, Clearview, Ultraviolet and Ghostlight, connecting cuts known through gaming with the core songs that define the group. A show focused on craft, hooks and mood, delivered by a trio that has grown its identity steadily, album after album.
