Finger Lickin’ Summer Takeover brings the label’s breakbeat DNA back to Concorde 2 in Brighton and Hove on 15 August 2026. Front and centre: Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts and Freestylers, three flagship names of the UK scene who shaped this sound across clubs and open‑air events.
Plump DJs, the London duo of Lee Rous and Andy Gardner, helped push breakbeat to prominence in the late 1990s. Their sets move between heavy breaks, muscular house and electro touches, with a groove tailored for the dancefloor and a mixing craft honed through long residencies and landmark compilations.
Under the Krafty Kuts alias, Martin Reeves blends big beat, hip‑hop, funk and thick basslines with old‑school DJ precision. Cuts, scratches, well‑chosen samples and broken rhythms driven by the groove: his signature goes for impact without losing musicality, from peak‑time club sets to funkier detours.
Freestylers, aka Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey, condense the soundsystem energy of the ’90s: crisp breakbeat, hip‑hop echoes, acid accents and excursions into bass music or drum and bass. Their hybrid selection links the golden age of raves with contemporary textures, maintaining a constant interplay between MC culture and the club pulse.
