Edinburgh Summer Sessions brings Biffy Clyro to the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, on 21 August 2026. Formed in Kilmarnock in 1995, the trio of Simon Neil with twins James and Ben Johnston has shaped a sound that moves between rugged riffs and clear melodies, stitching odd-time shifts to direct, chantable choruses. Albums like Puzzle, Only Revolutions and Opposites marked key stages in their writing, followed by later releases that kept the balance between weight and precision. On stage, Biffy plays as a tight unit, sliding from hushed tension to eruptive passages without breaking the thread, drawing across a catalogue built over three decades.
Joining them, Nothing But Thieves bring their Southend-on-Sea blend of alternative rock with electronic shades. Since their self-titled debut in 2015, followed by Broken Machine, Moral Panic and the 2023 project Dead Club City, the five-piece — Conor Mason, Joe Langridge-Brown, Dominic Craik, Philip Blake and James Price — has refined compact songs with incisive guitars and a clear sense for hooks. They’ve moved from club circuits to major festivals and have opened for bands like Muse, adding a focused, high-intensity set to the night beside Biffy Clyro.
