Level 42 bring their blend of jazz-funk pulse, sleek pop writing and crisp, dance‑rock edges to Scarborough Spa, South Bay, Scarborough, on 6 December 2026. Formed on the Isle of Wight in 1979, the band built its sound around Mark King’s percussive, melodic bass and Mike Lindup’s keyboards and harmonies, balancing tight grooves with clear, singable hooks. First rooted in instrumental fusion, they shifted through the 80s towards melodic new wave, polished dance-rock and synth-pop, shaping a style where rhythm and songcraft sit side by side.

On stage, Level 42 revisit every phase: early jazz-funk beginnings and Love Games, the pop breakthrough of World Machine and Running in the Family, then the later chapters of Staring at the Sun, Guaranteed, Forever Now and Retroglide. The arrangements keep the lines clean and agile, leaving space for interplay while holding to the band’s trademark precision. With textures long informed by collaborator Wally Badarou, the live set moves from airtight funk to luminous synth lines without losing momentum. A catalogue built for both movement and detail, carried by bass, keys and vocal harmonies.
