Teenage Fanclub

Teenage Fanclub play The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen on 11 November 2026. Formed in Bellshill near Glasgow in 1989, the band found its footing between power pop, jangle and alternative rock, pairing overdriven guitars with clear melodies and close harmonies. From the rough outlines of A Catholic Education to the more crafted Bandwagonesque, then Thirteen, Grand Prix and Songs from Northern Britain, they refined mid-tempo songs built on intertwined guitars and shared vocals, connecting 70s American pop influences with UK indie instincts. After Gerard Love’s departure in 2018, Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley have kept the collective songwriting dynamic in place. Recent albums Endless Arcade (2021) and Nothing Lasts Forever (2023) extend that line with uncluttered arrangements and a melodic restraint. On stage, the set typically moves from early fuzz to later clarity, leaning on chiming riffs, steady grooves and choruses carried by layered harmonies.
