On 25 June 2026 at O2 Academy Birmingham, Bilmuri brings The Kinda Hard Tour to town. Led by US musician Johnny Franck (ex-Attack Attack!), Bilmuri is a studio-solo project that expands on stage with a rotating band. The show leans into the project’s hybrid DNA: post-hardcore impulses, melodic metalcore, emo-pop turns and lighter pop-rock inflections, with electronic touches and, at times, brass adding contrast. The set draws from a steady run of DIY releases — Rich Sips, Eggy Pocket, Goblin Hours, American Motor Sports — where catchy refrains meet introspective, internet-tinged lyrics.
Thornhill, from Melbourne, opens with a sound built on groove-driven metalcore and shadowy atmospheres. Since their early EPs through The Dark Pool and Heroine, they’ve shifted between dense guitars, clean melodies and more alternative textures, playing on the tension between weight and clarity. Together, Bilmuri and Thornhill sketch a slice of the current alternative heavy scene, where contrast and melody sit alongside punch and precision at O2 Academy Birmingham.
