The Meteors are an early psychobilly band, a genre blending punk rock and rockabilly with horror-themed imagery. Formed in South London in 1980 by P. Paul Fenech, the band is known for a raw sound.
Their debut album, In Heaven (1981), is often cited as an early psychobilly record and helped define the genre. Known for energetic live shows and an independent ethos, they developed a following.
Despite numerous lineup changes, Fenech has remained the driving force behind the band. The Meteors continue to perform.
