Formed in Boston in 1986, Pixies — Black Francis, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal and David Lovering — reset the rules of alternative rock with quiet‑loud tension, surreal images and serrated riffs. Surfer Rosa and Doolittle set their singular grammar, and songs like Where Is My Mind?, Debaser and Monkey Gone to Heaven became reference points for a generation, inspiring bands from Nirvana to Radiohead to Weezer. After a split in 1993, the group regrouped in 2004 and has kept releasing new material, with the line‑up evolving around Francis, Santiago and Lovering.
