Ocean Colour Scene

Ocean Colour Scene land at OVO Hydro in Glasgow on 21 November 2026. Formed in Birmingham in 1989, the band first emerged from the early-90s baggy and indie scene before honing a more direct strain of British rock shaped by britpop, blues rock and English soul. Built around Simon Fowler, Steve Cradock and Oscar Harrison, their songs favour melodic choruses, crisp guitars and supple rhythms, with a clear mod streak running through.

The mid-90s proved pivotal: close ties with Paul Weller and a tour with Oasis set the stage for a strong run of records. Moseley Shoals, Marchin’ Already and One from the Modern fixed the template, followed by Mechanical Wonder, North Atlantic Drift, A Hyperactive Workout for the Flying Squad, On the Leyline, Saturday and Painting, all staying true to concise, song-led writing with discreet psychedelic shades and a sixties heritage assumed rather than flaunted.

On stage, Ocean Colour Scene thread that catalogue together with a direct, unshowy delivery, letting the melodies carry and the grooves breathe. Glasgow gets the band in their element, drawing on decades of material without frills.
