Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts bring their lean, straight-ahead rock to O2 Academy Glasgow on 2 July 2026. Led by guitarist and singer Joan Jett after her early years with The Runaways, the band took shape in New York with producer-musician Kenny Laguna. Since the turn of the 80s, they’ve honed a sound at the crossroads of hard rock, punk spirit and power pop: tight riffs, a driving backline, and choruses built to be shouted back. Early milestones like the solo cut Bad Reputation and the album I Love Rock ’n Roll set the tone and never really left the setlist.

On stage, the group moves fast and keeps it direct, pulling from a catalogue that balances rough-edged rockers and melodic staples. I Love Rock ’n Roll, Bad Reputation, Crimson and Clover, and I Hate Myself for Loving You sit comfortably next to later tracks from Sinner and Unvarnished. The result is a show that favors compact songs, call-and-response hooks and unfussy arrangements, carried by a band that’s spent years sharpening its sound on the road.
