Info

Saint Etienne bring their final UK tour to The Glasshouse – International Centre for Music in Gateshead on 24 September 2026. Formed in Croydon in 1990, the trio of Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs blend club culture with 60s-rooted pop, house and synthpop. On this set, they reach back to Foxbase Alpha and the narrative swing of So Tough, the folk-electronic crosscurrents of Tiger Bay and the more band-driven Good Humor, then move through the ambient leanings of Sound of Water and the London-focused vignettes of Finisterre and Tales from Turnpike House. Recent chapters Words and Music, Home Counties, I’ve Been Trying to Tell You, The Night and International keep that collage evolving.

On stage, Saint Etienne balance live vocals and electronics with sample-led textures and filmic cues. Cracknell holds the mic, Stanley and Wiggs shape the arrangements, and the set slips from dancefloor pulse to drift-pop calm without forcing the shift. A clear-line tour through three decades of songs, influences and city stories as the group draws a line under UK touring.
