Benjamin Steer

Benjamin Steer plays Village Underground in London on 23 May 2026 with a pop singer-songwriter set shaped by his British, American and Belgian roots. His writing circles desire, anxiety and the edges of early adulthood, putting voice and melody upfront. The project began while studying economics at St Andrews, when he moved from a few covers to sharing original songs online. Early tracks like Be My Love, Miracle, Sinner and No One Wants To Die Alone drew a line between melodic pop, indie pop and contemporary ballads, pairing direct hooks with lyrics about doubt, solitude and the social pressure felt by his generation. Steer keeps things stripped and introspective, driven by a perfectionism he links to OCD without turning it into a gimmick, balancing confession with accessible form. On stage, that approach becomes a sequence of close-up moments and clear-cut refrains, moving between piano-led pieces and guitar textures, with new material sitting alongside the songs that first introduced his world.
