Info
The Divine Comedy is the long-running project of Northern Irish songwriter Neil Hannon, formed at the end of the 1980s and shaped around a taste for chamber pop, crisp melodies and wry storytelling. Across albums like Liberation and Promenade, Hannon built a world of strings, piano and literary nods; with Casanova and Fin de Siècle he pushed that blend into sharper, more theatrical pop; later records such as Regeneration, Absent Friends and Victory for the Comic Muse shifted the palette before Bang Goes the Knighthood, Foreverland and Office Politics returned to gently satirical portraits and bittersweet tunes.
On stage, Hannon fronts a flexible band that can pivot from intimate arrangements to fuller orchestrations, keeping the focus on voice, narrative and elegant hooks. Expect a set that draws freely from three decades of songwriting, moving between buoyant chamber pop and more reflective pieces, with the dry humor and precise phrasing that have become his signature.
The Divine Comedy plays on 27 June 2026 at The LCR in Norwich, United Kingdom.
