Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit

Info

Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit arrive in Gateshead on 6 June 2026 at The Glasshouse – International Centre for Music. Led by the former Drive-By Truckers songwriter, the band formed between Muscle Shoals and Nashville and blends americana with alt-country, folk textures and a southern rock edge. On stage, the 400 Unit work in slow-burn dynamics: interlocking guitars, organ shadings, and a solid rhythm section that leaves room for lyrics built on close-up scenes and social undercurrents. The set typically spans the catalogue—the early self-titled period and Here We Rest, the Dave Cobb collaborations The Nashville Sound and Reunions, and the 2023 album Weathervanes—reshaped with live tension and restraint. Melodies stick without showboating; verses carry the story in a direct, slightly grainy voice. It’s songwriting rooted in the American South, played by a road-tested lineup that keeps the focus on detail, pulse and the arc of each song.
