múm return to Italy with History of Silence, an album born between Icelandic geysers and Salento: conceived in Reykjavík and finished at Sudestudio, it carries contrasts of ice and midday light. On stage the collective weaves tactile electronics, delicate voices and acoustic instruments bent to unexpected uses: glitchy rhythms that run beneath minute melodies, organic sampling and sonic details that reassemble into songs.

Since their late-’90s debut, the group led by Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Smárason has shaped an experimental pop that remains intimate and curious, with expansive textures and songwriting attentive to small gestures. On this Italian stop, the new tracks converse with the repertoire that made them known, between light orchestrations and a constant tension between analog warmth and micro-electronics. The result is a set that demands close listening and delivers continually shifting soundscapes.
