Black Coffee

Black Coffee returns to Stockholm for a show at Frihamnen on May 28, 2026. The South African DJ and producer, born Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has shaped a distinctive strain of deep house rooted in local rhythms and soul textures. After early days with the trio Shana and a formative stop at the 2003 Red Bull Music Academy in Cape Town, he launched his solo path with the album Black Coffee in 2005 on his label Soulistic Music, followed by Have Another One and Home Brewed. These records set the tone: slow-burning tempos, pared-back vocals and a sense of groove built on repetition rather than flash.

With the live project Africa Rising and the album Pieces of Me, his sound travelled from Durban to clubs and festivals worldwide, including long seasons in Ibiza. Subconsciously, released in 2021, pushed further with collaborations alongside Drake, David Guetta or Usher, without losing the warm, percussive core that defines his sets.

On stage, expect a patient, groove-led DJ journey where afro-house and deep house meet: rolling percussion, low-end swing, airy keys and voices used sparingly. Black Coffee builds momentum in waves, letting space and timing do the work for dancers. A focused trip through his catalogue and beyond, shaped for the dancefloor in Stockholm.
