On October 4, 2026 at History Ottawa in Ottawa, Modest Mouse brings its restless indie rock back to the stage. Formed in the early 90s, the band has moved from the wiry guitars and wandering rhythms of The Lonesome Crowded West to the expansive textures of The Moon & Antarctica and the taut, melodic writing of Good News for People Who Love Bad News. Live, their sound leans on jagged riffs, elastic basslines and Isaac Brock’s dry, precise delivery, shifting between tension, drift and sudden hooks pulled from across their catalog.
Also on the bill, Caroline Rose traces a line from Americana roots to synth‑laced indie pop. After folk‑driven beginnings, she pivoted with Loner and Superstar, then opened up further on The Art of Forgetting before the 2025 release year of the slug. Between narrative songwriting and DIY‑minded production, her set balances intimate lyrics with crisp, modern arrangements, adding a sharp counterpoint to the night.
