By giving his show this name, Elie Semoun sets the tone. For 30 years he has been a fixture on the French stage. His style blends subtlety and audacity. For this eighth show, stand-up plays a more prominent role—a novelty for him. Cactus remains true to his taste for character pieces.
Among the new characters are Jean Abdul, who will perform the opening act; a son who takes his father to visit a nursing home; Xavier, a person with a motor disability who introduces his wife to his mother; a father confronted with his son's transition; a racist karate instructor; as well as perspectives on sexual harassment and religion.
With Cactus, Elie Semoun offers a portrayal of society in which the themes of intolerance, taboo and injustice are addressed in an unvarnished way.
