Van Morrison

Van Morrison will perform on 17 June 2026 at the Metropol Theater Bremen. The Belfast-born singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has moved between R&B, soul, folk, blues and jazz since the 1960s. He first made his name with Them and the gritty rhythm-and-blues of "Gloria," before establishing his own voice as a solo artist with "Brown Eyed Girl" and finding a more open, personally inflected form on "Astral Weeks" and "Moondance."

On stage he combines compact songs with longer, more freely flowing passages. His voice draws on gospel and R&B, with room for improvisation, call-and-response and subtle harmonic deviations. His repertoire often includes pieces from different phases of his career, from "Saint Dominic's Preview" to more recent albums such as "Keep Me Singing," "Roll with the Punches," "Three Chords & the Truth" and "Moving On Skiffle." Supported by a band, brass textures, organ and guitar, he weaves American traditions with Irish-tinged melodies. The result is a set that spans decades without losing sight of the spontaneous energy of the moment.
