Destroyer

Destroyer, the stage name of Canadian Dan Bejar, arrives in Barcelona on September 20, 2026, for a one-off show at Sala Upload. In an intimate, bandless format, he will place the focus on voice, text and the nuances of songs he has shaped album by album, from a folk pulse to more synthetic atmospheres.

The concert follows Dan’s Boogie, released on March 28 by Merge Records and the follow-up to Labyrinthitis (2022). The new album widens the palette: restrained pop, piano ballads and atmospheric passages that sit between music and narrative. As a preview, “Bologna,” alongside Fiver, put Simone Schmidt’s voice front and center while Bejar remained in the shadows — a hint of the dynamic that may run through the live set: malleable structures, vocal deliveries close to spoken word, and melodic lines that appear and dissolve. Alone, Bejar often strips back arrangements so the lyrics can breathe and the narrative rhythm is accentuated. A face-to-face encounter with his repertoire, from new pieces to cuts from different periods, with the writing at the core.
