À la française, Hiba Tawaji's stage project, celebrates the French chanson through a personal reinterpretation. At the Casino Barrière de Lille in Lille on 17 December 2026, the Lebanese singer invites Ibrahim Maalouf, trumpeter and architect of the arrangements, for a journey through selected standards performed as a duo. The pair takes on a repertoire that has marked several generations and sets it in motion again without freezing it in nostalgia.
The songs take on new colors under Ibrahim Maalouf's pen, between orchestral writing, jazz phrasing, pop pulses and sounds from the Levant. Hiba Tawaji's voice, supple and expressive, moves between registers, carries the texts and weaves a natural link between Arab and Francophone cultures. The trumpet converses, replies, and opens spaces for improvisation without erasing the melodies. The set plays on contrasts: reinvented ballads, rising tensions, instrumental interludes. On stage, the duo's rapport structures the narrative and lends coherence to the whole. More than a string of covers, À la française conveys what these songs evoke in the artists and what they can still say today.
