Patti Smith Quartet

Patti Smith is back on the road as a quartet on July 11, 2026, at the Folies Bergère. A major figure of the New York scene, she has always combined spoken delivery, rock tension and folk-inflected touches. For this Paris date she arrives accompanied by Jackson Smith on guitar, Seb Rochford on drums, and Tony Shanahan, longtime bassist–keyboardist and collaborator. Together they revisit a repertoire that spans decades, from Horses to Banga, with pieces that make room for spoken word, electrifying bursts and more stripped-back passages. The tightened quartet emphasizes the songwriting, group dynamics and an organic sound, where the rhythm section supports nervy guitars and lyrics delivered raw. Between song and declamation, Patti Smith links poetry and rock without frills, opening spaces for improvisation that shift the contours of the songs. An evening conceived as a return to the roots of her work, in direct dialogue with the audience and her catalogue.
