Souls of Mischief

Souls of Mischief hit Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on July 19, 2026. Oakland-raised and core members of the Hieroglyphics crew, the four MCs—A-Plus, Opio, Phesto and Tajai—shaped a Bay Area approach that blends relay-style verses, fluid writing and grooves nourished by jazz and funk. Their debut 93 ’til Infinity set a clear blueprint with airy production and melodic samples, followed by No Man’s Land, the narrative arc of Trilogy: Conflict, Climax, Resolution, Montezuma’s Revenge, and There Is Only Now, created with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

On stage, they work as a unit: voices dovetail without breaks, hooks pass from one to another, and the beat stays at the heart of the show. The set reaches across three decades, from early cuts to later material, keeping a balance between head-nod bounce, soulful textures and cinematic moods. No gimmicks, just four rappers who know each other’s timing and leave room for the groove. A focused Bay Area hip-hop session, carried by interlocking flows and the collective energy that has kept the crew active on the independent circuit since the 90s—now in Toronto, in the room, at Phoenix.
