Diggy Dex

On 13 November 2026 Diggy Dex will perform at PHIL in Haarlem. Koen Jansen, known as Diggy Dex, broke through in the early 2000s with the Amersfoort collective D.A.C. In his solo work he prefers Dutch-language, narrative rap with melodic choruses, in which everyday scenes, relationships and doubts form the common thread. From Verhalen vanuit de sofa (2006) via Mayonaise Voor De Ziel (2010) and Do It Yourself Society (2012), his sound shifted toward a more song-oriented approach. With Golven (2015) he found a clear mix of hip-hop rhythms, folk accents and a touch of soul.

Live he alternates beats and acoustic colors, with the lyrics always at the forefront. Not boastful, but leaving room for melody and story. His collaborations, including with JW Roy, colour the arrangements and steer his tracks toward the pop stage without abandoning rap. In Haarlem Diggy Dex will present a set that places his early pen alongside his later songwriter side: recognizable stories, compact hooks and production that suits both club and concert-hall settings. An evening close to language, close to people, and entirely in Dutch.
