Ruben Hein

On 29 October 2026 Ruben Hein will perform at Patronaat in Haarlem. The Dutch singer and pianist moves between pop, jazz and soul, with piano and voice as his constant foundation. He first drew attention in the early 2010s with Loose Fit (2010), an album of melodic songs supported by jazz harmonies and a subtle soul tint. He then broadened his palette with Hopscotch (2012), Groundwork Rising (2018) and OCEANS (2022), in which his acoustic signature found space for open, evocative pop. In 2024 P.S. was released, recorded with the Matangi Quartet, which opens a dialogue between vocals, keys and chamber-music colours.

On stage Hein forges these strands into a clear song form: intimate and restrained where possible, pulsing and grooving where required, always attentive to detail. Echoes of collaborations with Benjamin Herman, Pete Philly & Perquisite, Jonathan Jeremiah and the Metropole Orkest surface in his arrangements and sense of timing. The result is a set that places the song at the centre, in which pop, soul and jazz meld organically and the piano remains the compass.
